Ponte de Lima is proud to be considered in recent years a Portuguese example in terms of green spaces, the environment and quality of life. Visitors are immediately struck by its leisure facilities and also by the number of people walking, cycling and horse riding, enjoying the Ecovias (eco-paths), canoeing, swimming in the river Lima, and many other activities – people who indeed seek an excellent standard of living.

From the 28th of May until the 31st of October the International Garden Festival of Ponte de Lima attracts visitors from all over the world to an unique event in Portugal.

The theme of the festival this year is Kaos in the Garden.

The objectives of the Festival are to contribute on a local, national and international level to greater awareness of the art of the garden and to an increase in the importance of gardens and of green spaces in improving the quality of life of citizens, creating a movement that brings flowers, plants and art into closer contact with the urban space and is simultaneously a force for the preservation and enhancement of the values of the rural landscape.
