Offering seven different models of bike shoes, VAUDE is hitting the pedals at full speed with its Shoe Collection for mountain bikers, bike travelers and daily commuters. With a variety of purpose-designed soles, all of our shoes are compatible with click pedal systems, so they can be used for both biking and walking.

As part of the ongoing development of a constantly growing range of bike products, VAUDE is bringing bike shoes to the market for the first time. We are presenting a shoe collection that includes seven models: two Race models for mountain bike touring and competitive use; three All Mountain models for trans Alp crossings and downhill mountain biking as well as two Trek & Trail models for bike traveling and daily commuting.

Sophisticated Shoe Design

After carefully analyzing the motion sequence of a foot while pedaling and power transfer to the pedal, a three-layer construction of the upper shoe was developed that stabilizes the foot as well as optimizing upstroke and downstroke on the pedals while riding.

A shaft that encircles the entire foot makes up the first layer of the shoe upper. In the second layer, a Power Strap lies like a band across the shoe, from the inside of the foot over the instep to the outside of the foot.  This functions as the closure system and provides stability and a secure fit on the foot. The VAUDE Power Cage makes up the third layer. This material encloses the entire shoe and delivers maximum stability during both the upstroke and downstroke when pedaling.  The Power Cage also ensures that power is optimally transferred to the pedal throughout the entire circular pedaling motion and works together with the heel clip for increased heel stability.

Sole Engineering

For our Race, All Mountain, and Trek & Trail shoe models, three different sole types were engineered – all compatible with click pedal systems.  Depending on intended use, they differ in terms of material components and tread profiles. Specialized outsole features such as Easy Ramp, Grip Lugs, and V-Gap are precisely designed to meet the needs of different bikers, with a variety of unique features depending on the type of sole used. Insoles are anatomically designed; an antibacterial finish together with breathable materials ensures an optimal microclimate for your feet.

Race

Designed for mountain bike racing, cross country, and longer tours, the two Race models Chain RC and Basin RC offer the best performance at the highest standards – either with ratchet closure or a classic three-strap velcro closure. Premium high performance materials offer optimal weather protection and good breathability. In the soles, a very hard nylon composition predominates guaranteeing greater stiffness and stability for maximum power transfer to the pedal. The tread ensures sure traction on short walking and carrying passages over unridable terrain.

All Mountain

The three All Mountain shoe models Trailhead AM, Ridge AM and Trukee AM were designed for trans Alp crossings and downhill mountain biking. Available in mid-cut or low-cut versions, they’re just at home on precarious ascents as they are on technical descents through difficult terrain. The soles are flexible and have a well defined tread for excellent foot roll and good traction when walking over rocky terrain.

Trek & Trail

The Trek & Trail Line features two models: Route TR and Breeze TR. These are all-rounders and a great choice for bike traveling and the daily commute – from the morning stretch to work, running errands during your lunch break to your after work ride. Air permeable mesh fabric makes these shoes lightweight and comfortable. Their flexible trekking sole is just as comfortable on the pavement as it is on the pedal.
